Make your Ganesh Chaturthi special with this amazing modak recipe 2017

Modak is one of the most loved sweets by Lord Ganesh and is widely prepared during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. If you deciding to welcome the lord this year to your house, you can treat him by the modaks especially prepared by you.


For the Shell
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 2 tsp ghee
For the Filling
  • 1 cup of grated coconut
  • 1 cup of grated jaggery
  • Pinch of saffron and nutmeg
Method for making the Filling
  • Take a pan put it on a medium flame and add the grated coconut and jaggery
  • Stir well for about 5 minutes and then add nutmeg and saffron
  • Cook for few minutes and keep this mixture aside

Method to Make Modak

  • Take a deep dish and boil water and ghee. Add salt to taste and the rice flour and mix it well
  • Cover the dish with a lid and keep it on a flame until its cooked half
  • Take a steel bowl and grease it with some ghee and pour the half cooked mixture in it to form a dough, knead it well
  • Take a small amount of dough in your hand, roll it to form a ball, flatten it politely, and give a flower pattern to the edges
  • Put the filling in it and seal it
  • Put the prepared modals in muslin cloth and steam them for a few minutes
